Latest CHC Updates

Updated: 30 March 2022

SkillsIQ is currently awaiting final endorsement from Skills Ministers for the Individual Support Training Package Products approved by the AISC at its October 2021 meeting.

As per the AISC communique, the AISC approved the revised training products for the CHC Community Services Training Package Individual Support, Ageing and Disability Support, on the proviso that the training products are referred to Skills Senior Officials Network (SSON) as part of the endorsement process to urgently provide advice on:

  • Common outstanding issues relating to training package content and structure, as raised with jurisdictions by their industry stakeholders and how these issues will be managed to achieve resolution and acceptance of the Training Package
  • Steps that can be taken to support RTO uptake and delivery of the updated training products.

This project included the Certificate III in Individual Support, Certificate IV in Ageing Support and Certificate IV in Disability Support and a number of associated Units of Competency and Skill Sets. SkillsIQ are currently unable to publish these Training Package Products on training.gov.au until such time that Skills Ministers’ approval is received.

As there are a number of subsequent projects that have incorporated Units of Competency from the Individual Support Training Package project, SkillsIQ are therefore unable to publish subsequent Training Package Products until such time as Individual Support Training Package Products are published on training.gov.au.

Further to this, as Training Package Products must be uploaded to training.gov.au according to the versions that are endorsed by the Skills Ministers, until CHC Community Services Training Package Version 7.0 containing the Individual Support Training Package Products is uploaded to training.gov.au, SkillsIQ cannot publish subsequent versions of this Training Package.

Updated: 21 October 2021

The CHC Community Services Training Package – Individual Support, Ageing and Disability has been approved at the latest AISC meeting!

Full Communique from the 12 October 2021 meeting can be found here.

The AISC also acknowledged that the project has been underpinned by extensive stakeholder consultation, with multiple opportunities provided for stakeholders to give feedback. Concerns raised and the proposed responses were documented comprehensively. It also noted that there continue to be residual, significant differences in views among some sections of industry relating to the content and structure of a small number of units of competency.

Given these concerns, and in the interest of achieving a timely resolution building on the work the three IRC’s have already done, the AISC approved the training products for endorsement on the condition the training products are referred to Skills Senior Officials Network (SSON) to urgently provide advice on common outstanding issues related to the content and structure of the qualifications and steps that can be taken to support RTO implementation.
