New Case Management Units: CHCCSM014 & CHCCSM015

We’ve recently released two new units to help learners build skills in their case management. CHCCSM014 and CHCCSM015 form part of the Case Management elective units for the Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) qualification in vocational education and training (VET). The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with skills involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. In this career, workers support people to make changes in their lives to improve their personal and social wellbeing.

CHCCSM014 Provide case management supervision

Learners who undertake this unit will gain the skills and knowledge required to take on a leadership role in the delivery of quality case management. This unit focuses on following and promoting practical standards, supporting colleagues, providing practice, support and advice on complex cases, and reflecting and improving group supervision provision.

Once completed, learners will have the skills to supervise and collaborate with a group of case workers on a complex case. They will gain knowledge of the legal and ethical considerations of case management supervision, cultural competence, the practice model of supervision and organisational policies and procedures.

CHCCSM015 Undertake case management in a child protection framework

This unit expands on CHCCSM014 by providing the skills and knowledge required to apply all aspects of case management to case plans developed to address a child’s or young person’s needs within a child protection framework. This unit focuses on establishing the child’s needs and level of risk, developing and implementing a case management plan, establishing a review and evaluation system, working with external agencies, and undertaking case closure.

Upon completion, learners will have the skills to apply all aspects of a structured child protection framework for children and young people. They will gain knowledge of child protection policies and procedures, child-centred practices, cultural considerations, and legislation relevant to child protection.
